But they believe homosexuality is harmful, and even bring God's wrath upon the entire country, like Pharaoh in Moses's time. People have their views. Deal with it. As long as no laws are based upon religious nonsense, I don't care what the neighbor believes.

Christians seems to have a harder time indoctrinating children nowadays than before. Don't be so pessimistic
Based on what your neighbor believes he is going to choose the candidate that he thinks will best represent them and they're going to want their religious views influence legislation. Take a look around, religious bigots are thrilled about him being the president. It's like he's the new Messiah.

"Some degree of self hate is actually a good thing. It prevents me from acting like a total fool in the street with the rest of the turds during pride month:joy: I don't begrudge anyone having a party." You don't habe to go to one, I never have. But it's important to have one, because we've already been killed for what we are.

"I do however begrudge people who mistake their sexuality for some massively important signifier that not only demands that other people respect them, but also pay them some special dues." I don't think that sexuality is an important signifier on person's life, but this harmless part of who gay people are have been reason enough for us to be killed, frowned upon, belittled, called names, imprisoned, deprived from basic rights etc. It's not about a special due.

"I am not saying there isn't gays who experience homophobia in the western world. All I am saying is that it is not the norm anymore." Show more of your life for homophobes to see, and see how much acceptance they show you in the comment session.

"Many gays are using the term homophobia to play a victim and to shut up people they disagree with." I think that could be true, as life isn't always black or white.
Maybe one day, but not an entire month, and the kink crowd could celebrate in their fetish gear at a separted disclosed area after the march, where they should dress decently.

No, basic human rights are not special dues, but we already have basic human rights in the US...

Why should I show more of my life to homophobes? I think public displays of affection is cringy!

Glad we agree one something.

"Maybe one day, but not an entire month, and the kink crowd could celebrate in their fetish gear at a separted disclosed area after the march, where they should dress decently." I agree with that, I don't think it helps anybody.

"No, basic human rights are not special dues, but we already have basic human rights in the US..." But it wasn't always like this and there's always those who want to have it the way things once were. So there needs to be resistance, ways to show things can't go backwards and you can't do that based on their book.

"Why should I show more of my life to homophobes? I think public displays of affection is cringy!" You know what I mean. Not all heterosexuals like showing their lives and making public displays of affection, but those who do will never be frowned upon by anyone, unless they sex in public but that's totaly different. That is not true for gay couples. Gay couples have look like friends at best so that they're not harassed by people or have the shit beaten out of them.
